Your Carpets can be a luxury item in your home and they can be expensive. We always promote a regular schedule to hoover the carpets in your home or business.
As they saying if your look after something it will look after you.
We are all busy with our lifestyles and sometimes have that man yana approach. Please don’t. Make the effort.
I bet that you don’t use your crevice tool on your carpets?
The crevice carpet tool is to get into all those nooks and crannies. Have you ever seen dark edges around your carpet? This is dust under the carpet. This can become visible over time through lack of hovering. They are known as draft marks.
Removing draught marks can be difficult even for the most experienced carpet cleaner, and costly.
Have carpet runners in the most trafficked areas in your home. This will protect the carpet from the high traffic it experiences.
In the event you do have an accident don’t use the off the shelf stain cleaners. They do not work, All they do is spread the issue.
Depending on what carpets you have depends on the cleaning method that will be used.
This would be identified at the inspection audit stage.
What methods are available for cleaning your carpets?
The phrase steam cleaning is in fact an incorrect terminology for the cleaning of carpets. What is actually used is very hot water or HWE as the industry experts refer to. This process injects the hot water within to the carpets fibres which at the same time vacuums up the dislodged dirt. The majority of the industry carpet makers also advise that customers have their carpets cleaned in this manner. The hwe gives the best and deepest clean for your carpets. Carpets made using natural fibres such as wool can shrink if the water is too hot, so when the carpet is inspected and wool is the fibre the heat is reduced accordingly. If your carpet is velvet or Wilton then this cleaning method is not for you
Our carpet cleaning machine is a portable which is very useful when it comes to going into flats or parking is an issue. We normally carry around 100feet of vacuum and inline hose. The normal length used is 60 feet. When we use our machine we normally leave this in the van, which reduces any noise pollution significantly and helps in not upsetting the neighbours.
Carpets need to be prepared for cleaning. The correct chemical to apply will a Alkaline solution. The ph level can vary from 8 to 13. A more neutral chemical is used when cleaning wool carpets.
Once the relevant chemical has been applied this will then be agitated into the carpet by either using a machine or a brush,
Once the chemicals have dwelled in accordance with the manufactures instructions the cleaning process can commence.
To ensure no residue of the applied chemical is left in the carpet, an acid is applied to the clean water tank which neutralisers the fibres when being cleaned, and this also softens the fibres.
Professional carpet cleaners the world over use the hwe as their preferred cleaning method as this removes the grit, dust and other small particles, and helps reduce drastically any fibre abrasion.
The extraction is the most important stage of the h20 process. As the hwe system will use a lot more water than other systems such as bonnet cleaning, the air flow needed to extract all the moisture is essential. Other tools of the trade to dry the carpets are fans. These are place in the room and blow cold air across the carpet removing what little moisture exists. We also advise to open windows in the warmer months and put the central heating on in the colder months.
Carpets that have a jute backing, rugs with natural yarns are prone to shrinkage using this method of cleaning, and it is advisable to approach the dry cleaning method.
The modern day carpets were they have a synthetic backing or have manmade fibres will not shrink. To understand what your carpet is we use
2/ The burn test
3/ The float test
If you see wrinkle in your carpet after cleaning delamination may have taken place. This normally only applies when the homeowner try’s to clean the carpets themselves, not understanding the structure of the carpet.
When a carpet has been cleaned with moisture they will require a drying time. Just as when you take your clothes out of a washing machine. The faster the drying the less chance of resoling. So please take the advice of the carpet cleaner when they are leaving your home.
The dry cleaning method
The dry carpet cleaning method results are dependent on many factors.
Is it not as it reads though. There is a small amount of moisture from the pre spray.
The carpet has to be vacuumed thoroughly which will release any sand, allergens, and grits. You will be surprised at the amount that is recovered during our hoovering process.
We then apply the appropriate chemical. Using our crb or scrubber, this gentle agitates into the fibre. The 2nd phase of the clean is the actual dry compound. These are sand like size sponges and they will react with the chemical pre spray. We again use our crb to grind these sponges deep into the carpets fibres. This is then left to dwell, from between 10 to 20 minutes depending on the severity of the cleaning required.
There may be areas which will require a hands on your knees approach for those stubborn marks. Removal of certain stains may require a variety of chemicals used in a very sparing way. So not to dampen the carpet. Sometimes a quick blast of a hairdryer helps.
The bonnet cleaning process
This carpet cleaning method is normally used on large areas of carpet were the carpet is of low profile, such as carpet tiles.
The process involves using a rotary machine were a pad can be attached.
The pad is submerged in a bucket of solution, squeezed out then re attached to the machine, and then areas of a couple of feet square cleaned. The mop is the then cleaned and re used.
This type of carpet cleaning is good for service cleaning, and it does leave the carpets touch dry if done correctly.
This can be quite a quick method of carpet cleaning
