The most popular method we use is steam, more commonly known as hot water extraction.

For this customer, they had several issues that we had to tackle. Odour was very strong caused by pets. Stains and urine also had to be tackled, along with the dirt and grease.

How do we achieve these results?

Normally we would vacuum because of the excess amount of dust and hair, we used our CRB machine. This extracted a lot of hair. We then continued with the hoover and a hand brush. Preparation is key. We need the fibres to be free of as many contaminants as possible.

Doing this aids the fibres for the next phase.

Because of the odour, we used a powerful enzyme solution that incorporated an odour eliminator.

We applied and scrubbed this in deep to allow maximum contact.

Always allow at least ten minutes for the solutions to take effect.

Whilst this is happening, we set up the machinery.

For this example, I set the water to steam along with a water pressure set to 350 psi. When we use heat as this temperature, there are several advantages, such as the removal of grease, grime, and odours. What lies beneath is something not everyone is aware of. Micro-organisms such as bacteria, allergens, and dust mites can have a negative effect on some people. This is expelled at the level of heat.

Anyway, an acid is also added to the freshwater tank. The purpose of this is that as we use an alkaline to break down the muck, acid when it comes into contact with the fibre or fabric will leave a balance pH reading of 7.5.

We start at the furthest point of the room, working left to right. Once a section is completed. We then check our work. Repeat if required. Keep working backwards. Our machine has powerful vacuums that leave fibres to touch dry.

We now place two air movers to speed dry the areas.

We can use water pressure of 1200psi, with steam vapour up to 130c. Our vacuum system can operate from 130 feet away. We would only use this when dealing with hard floors such as tiles.

We conduct a survey to provide you with advice on what results you can expect.

1/ Pre-vacuum. This alone removes around 80% of loose soils.

2/ Apply a solution suitable for the level of contamination

3/ Agitate and then reapply the solution

4/ Deal with edges first.

5/ Start at the furthest point working backwards. We always check our work ongoing. Repeat if necessary.

6/ Upon completion, we apply a lovely deodoriser.

Drying times are normally two hours dependent on the fibre length and humidity of the property.

Other Methods we offer

1/ Dry System- We use this on water-sensitive items such as Wilton’s that are prone to shrinkage.

2/ Low moisture- Using a wool pad on a rotating pad. We use this in sizeable areas such as hotels, schools and office buildings.

End of Tenancy

Our pre-survey is essential for determining the condition of your property. We conduct this inspection for free to give you a clear understanding of what to expect. Once the work is finished, we will send you an invoice that includes detailed information about the method to be undertaken and the chemicals used. This is important for your records.

Red wine spillage

We suggest using a towel to blot as much liquid up as possible. Use a little pressure, never rub. Continue this until you have lifted as much liquid as possible. Should this remain, try our homemade remedy. Never rely on products sold in shops. These contain bleaches that may cause damage. We use acids, compounds,or gels to tackle blemishes. Wool fibres will require more attention because of the fabric. Success of removal is all about speed.

How do we remove stains from fabrics?

Our first procedure is to determine if this is permanent. This is caused when liquid is spilled when a shop spray is used.

If this is removable.

1/ Flush using cold water only. Heat can seal this in. Once flushed, a solution is applied. We allow this to dwell for several minutes. We wear a face mask when dealing with this problem. After a few minutes, this is re-flushed. Using a hairdryer, we work on affected sections. We may use an iron and towel to transfer any coloured marks away.

Tea or coffee spillage.
Again, blot as much liquid as you can.

How do we uplift this?

We flush using just cold water. Our tea and coffee remover is applied. Allowed to dwell .We re-flushed.

Urine Removal

This can be complicated. Different levels of contamination require more work, such as the odd accident to multiple areas of wee.

Odour Extraction

This can be from pets, drugs, or mustiness. From ozone generators to chemicals to rid these for you.

In these pictures, you can see what the colour should be. This customer had attempted to deal with this herself and then called my company to help her.

Hoovering uplifts loose debris, which, over time, can act like sandpaper and loosen fibres. This took ten minutes to hoover this living room.

Next, a fragrant alkaline chemical was liberally applied.

To deliver quality results, we use water via our truck mount at a temperature of 130c. Using this level of heat eliminated grime, dust mites and all microscopic items.

Fabric Upholstery

Using the correct method is very important. We identify the fibre using experience, the float, and the burn test. We use specific solutions which are gentle that do the job. Breaking down grime, odours, and more. Dealing with your sofa is intricate, so takes time. Once all loose material is dealt with, our solution of choice is applied. Once done, we gently agitate the fibre. This ensures 100% adhesion. We sometimes need to use chemistry to deal with more challenging work.

The process is

1/ Vacuum loose items

2/ Apply relevant solution and agitate using a hand or drill brush.

3/ Address areas of higher usage such as arms rest.

4/ We start at the back, working to the sides. Now we concentrate on the seating area.

5/ Once complete, an air mover is placed to help speed up the drying times.

Leather Upholstery

Hides are beautiful, so regular maintenance is important. However, most people neglect this. We use creams designed to revive the hide and nourish your furniture. Removing built-up muck, certain marks, and smells. We wash down all areas using specialist chemicals. This removes any grease and grime.

Starting at the rear of the furniture, working our way around to the arms, sides, seating areas, and arms. Once complete, we repeat the process using dedcated creams. Once complete, we advise you not to use the furniture for around an hour. This allows the solution to penetrate the leather.

An annual maintenance is suggested to keep the hide looking fresh and supple.

Rugs

These can be the focal point of any room. These can be manufactured via any means and, again, understanding their construction is important. Such as colour runs, shrinkage, animal issues, and the safest methods to use.

Stain Guard

What is it and what does it do?

We administer this application once work is completed. The product we use acts as a barrier to spillages, allowing you time to wipe up the accident.

The way we apply it is via a spray gun. Once applied, we will speed-dry the area. The molecules of the solution cling to the fibres and fabric.

We suggest an annual repeat treatment, as the protection will wear away via friction and UV.

On average, the product should last you around a year. This is based on a standard property. Variants improve or reduce the lifespan, such as household members, animals, etc.
